About
Alec Painter is an incoming PsyD student at Wright State University's School of Professional Psychology. He plans to pursue the Health, Rehabilitation, and Neuropsychology (HRN) Emphasis because it provides the perfect training foundation for his long-term goal of working with older adults in clinical settings.
From 2024-2026, he completed his post-baccalaureate coursework in psychology at the University of Cincinnati, where he also worked as a TA in psychobiology, sensation and perception, and psychological testing and measurement. During this period, he served as a research assistant to two faculty members in the Department of Psychiatry at Wright State's Boonshoft School of Medicine, and also worked as a medical scribe at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
Before making a shift to clinical psychology, he spent over 15 years in digital strategy and analytics after receiving a BBA in Music Business from Belmont University in 2009. His career began in advertising, where he specialized in merging large, unstructured datasets from search engines and social media to generate insights for clients like U.S. Bank, Procter & Gamble, and Luxxotica.
In 2015, he transitioned to product marketing roles at venture-backed startups in Silicon Valley. At Motiv Inc., a wearable technology company later acquired by Oura, he was responsible for the digital voice of the brand as Head of Content. At Level Home, which has raised over $170M in venture funding, he was one of the company's first two marketing hires and helped shape the brand's voice as it first annonced its flagship product.
Outside of academics, he is engaged in volunteer work related to social justice causes that support undocumented community and families experiencing homelessness. He still maintains some ties to Silicon Valley, serving on advisory boards for startups in industries like education and online food delivery. In the few unaccounted for hours in his week, he still records music, customizes his cars, and mostly just entertains his puppy, June (pictured above).
